How Referrals Work

To start a referral, send us a quick text at (516) 822-7546, give us a call, or email hello@belaray.com. Please include your own cell number so one of our providers can reach you back directly, instead of your message getting stuck in your office phone queue. For your patient’s privacy, you do not need to include health details in that first message. A provider will connect with you to discuss the case physician-to-physician, and there is no complex referral form to complete and no phone tree to navigate.

• Text-first. A short message with your name and cell number is all we need to get started.
• Physician-to-physician. When a case calls for it, a Belaray provider will reach back out to you directly.
• Same-day when needed. We almost always accommodate a same-day referral when a colleague requests it, including urgent or suspicious lesions.

What We Are a Referral Destination For

• Mohs micrographic surgery for basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma, performed by three dual board-certified Mohs surgeons. Learn more at our Skin Cancer Center.
• Periocular skin cancer and other cancers near the eye, with same-visit oculofacial reconstruction (see below).
• Urgent or suspicious lesions that need prompt evaluation and biopsy.
• Oculofacial plastic surgery with Dr. Rachel Ellis: ptosis, ectropion, entropion, thyroid eye disease, tearing and lacrimal disorders, and eyelid lesions.
• General and pediatric dermatology, medical and surgical, at both offices.
• Complex or high-risk cases that benefit from an integrated dermatology and oculofacial team under one roof.

Periocular Skin Cancer, Coordinated in One Practice

Belaray coordinates Mohs surgery and oculofacial plastic reconstruction on-site. For selected periocular cancers, the Mohs removal is performed by one of Belaray’s dual board-certified Mohs surgeons, followed the same visit, when appropriate, by oculofacial reconstruction with Dr. Rachel Ellis. This keeps tumor removal and delicate eyelid and facial reconstruction within a single practice, often during the same visit.

Where should I refer a patient for Mohs surgery near the eye on Long Island?

Belaray coordinates Mohs surgery and oculofacial plastic reconstruction on-site. Who performs Mohs surgery at Belaray?

Mohs surgery at Belaray is performed by three dual board-certified Mohs surgeons: Dr. Jeffrey Ellis, Dr. Dana Baigrie, and Dr. Anthony Wong, each board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology in Dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery.
